A Thermostatic Water Bath holds specimens at a precise, stable temperature — for example 25 °C for penetration or other specified temperatures — before and during testing. Accurate temperature control is critical for bitumen consistency tests, whose results are highly temperature dependent.

What this equipment tests

  • Temperature conditioning for bitumen penetration (25 °C)
  • Constant-temperature bath for viscosity / consistency tests
  • Specimen conditioning to specified test temperature

Applicable Indian Standards

  • IS 1203 — Determination of penetration of bitumen
  • IS 1206 — Determination of viscosity of bitumen

Frequently asked questions

Why is a water bath needed for bitumen tests?

Bitumen consistency is strongly temperature dependent, so specimens must be held at exactly the specified temperature — e.g. 25 °C for penetration — for valid results.

Is the temperature digitally controlled?

Yes, with a digital thermostatic controller for stable temperature.
