The Flash & Fire Point Apparatus determines the temperatures at which bitumen vapours momentarily flash and then continuously burn (fire point) when a test flame is passed over the heated sample. These values set the safe handling and mixing temperatures for bitumen, per IS 1209.

What this equipment tests

  • Flash point of bitumen (Cleveland / Pensky-Martens open cup)
  • Fire point of bitumen
  • Safe heating / mixing temperature verification

Applicable Indian Standards

  • IS 1209 — Determination of flash and fire point of bitumen
  • IS 1448 — Methods of test for petroleum and its products
